The Chinese Cultural Center in downtown Phoenix (near Sky Harbor Airport) is probably pretty well known. It offers market-style shopping with some of the best fresh fish in the Valley and several restaurants.
But did you know that downtown Phoenix had another Chinatown? From the 1890's to the 1940's Phoenix had a bustling Chinatown district centered around First Street and Madison. You can see a slideshow presentation of the artifacts, with discussion by Dr. Todd Bostwick - tomorrow night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Burton Barr Central Library (1221 N Central Ave, . See more at the Downtown Coalition Voices blog and the Phoenix Library website.
