Development in North Peoria is Full Steam Ahead – Welcome Tierra Del Rio

I don't want to sound like an old geezer fondly remembering the days of yester-year, but it's funny to think about how much Peoria has changed since I've moved here – and that was only 9 years ago!!

When we moved here from Scottsdale in 1998, we were at the very edge of the city; there was very little development nearby. (Our subdivision was one of the first in a long series of new homes..) The Circle K on the corner of 83rd and Union Hills (now the center of town) opened its doors about 6 months AFTER we moved in.

In 2000, when our baby was having a tough time getting to sleep, we used to put him in the car and take a leisurely drive up 99th Avenue – there weren't any developments or streetlights between Beardsley and the Carefree Highway! And during those drives, there was something about this mountain that always caught my eye. It's small, but has a majestic feel to it, and juts right out of the desert floor – just north of Jomax about a quarter mile west of 99th Ave.

Well, here comes development.

Looks like Pulte is going to build a couple hundred homes, and some lucky homeowners are going to own fantastic lots backing against this mountain. I just hope they appreciate it.
