Texting Is A No-No!!!!

I must admit, I find myself dialing my phone and typing a text while driving quite often.  If you were to take a poll, I wouldn't be at all surprised if real estate agents were one of the worst offenders of multi-tasking while driving.  And now it's illegal.  As it should be.  I've often pulled myself over into a parking lot to handle a phone call or to send an important text message.  The nature of our business causes us to be on the road for a better part of the day most of the time while still needing to communicate with many people (other agents, clients, people calling about our listings, lenders, title companies, the list goes on and on).  And what better time to get the phone calls out of the way than while driving across town.  I've found myself typing a text or email on my phone and thinking to myself that I should pull into a parking lot, and if possible, most of the time I do.

Now that the city council has passed the legislation, I will be forced to pull over before I start typing a text message.  I'm okay with that.  Dialing your phone is bad enough, and that's just seven digits, but typing a novel on your phone while you are supposed to be watching the road, is flat out dangerous.  It's unfortunate that it had to take a young woman losing her life before we all start taking it seriously, but at least the City Council took immediate action to pass the ban.
