Learn about your HOA

Home Owners Associations, or HOAs, are one thing people love to hate!  If you live in one of the Phoenix suburbs, no doubt you've had a run-in with your HOA.  Maybe you received a notice for your trash can being left at the curb too long, or for parking your boat in the street overnight, or for having too many weeds in your yard...   Almost every client I've ever worked with has had negative things to say about HOAs, and yet almost every client I've worked with has preferred to live in a neighborhood with an HOA.  Now that's a strange statistic!  I think most people realize there's value in an HOA, and if you're willing to put up with the petty letters once in awhile, you can avoid the next door neighbor who paints his house a strange color and mows his front lawn less than once a year.

I've written a newsletter article in the past about HOAs, and I'll revisit the topic in more detail again in another post.  I think this is a topic a lot of people have strong feelings about.  And because of that, I wanted to share this information with you today:

We're right in the middle of Peoria's annual HOA Academy!  If you want a chance to learn the real inner workings of your HOA, including what they really are and aren't allowed to do, you should plan on attending one of these classes.  They're offered free of charge by the City of Peoria.  Maybe you'll learn that they can't fine you after all.  Maybe you'll learn that you'd better pay your fine right away..  This is one good way to find out.
